I have all the games except for the p/d versions and have been playing all of them at different times so that I can have all the pokemon on all of the games. well today as I was playing I ran into a pokemon that i think is a shiny pokemon but want to make sure. I ran into a wild bellsprout that kinda clicked or glowed when it showed up and it was almonst completely a gold color. Is that a shiny pokemon? How many shiny pokemon are there and is there a list of what all the shiny pokemon are? Thanks

Yes, the Bellsprout was shiny. A shiny pokemon is just a normal pokemon except it's a different colour. There is an unlimited amount, but they are extremely rare. If you go to the Psydex, and click on a Pokemon, it will show a pic of its normal form and shiny form.

Hello. =3 Yeah what they said. I remember when I was playing my Sapphire version. I found a shiny skarmory and ran from it! Later when I found out what it was I felt sooo stupid. I have never found another shiny since. =( Ah well.

I have been playing these games for more than a year now, why haven't I run into one before now? Are they that rare? I wanted to run but then I remembered about the shinys and was going to ask my son but he was already asleep, I'm glad I caught it though!

Yeah they really are rare. There are some people who say that you have increased chances of finding shinies in certain areas but I've tried it. I don't know the exact ratio but it's really high.

I believe that it is a very low percentage..Like 2%...All I know is that it is really low and that I NEVER found any...also since this is on topic can you make a pokemon shiny? (Mainly referring to Ru/Sa/E and PD)

Also I have never...ever..EVER...ran into a shiny pokemon...other than red gyarados...

I don't think you can actually make them shiny. But in G/S/C the pokemon egg from the daycare center has a 50% chance of being shiny. But I have never actually heard of making a pokemon shiny.

I was on the route just outside of the safari zone and was looking for a bellsprout and a weppinbell to trade to firered, the weppinbell is kinda hard to find, so I'm back and forth in the grass for about half an hour, I'm glad I didn't run from it.

Yeah at the time I got my Sapphire version I didn't really know much about the games and I didn't know shinies existed so I didn't think much about running away from it. It really ticks me off sometimes.

If it hadn't been for that click or glow thing it did I probally would have run from this one, I'm glad I was paying attention because sometimes I'm into a tv show when I riding through the grass and just look down when I come across a pokemon just long enough to see what it is.

Haha I do that too. Turn the volume up just so I can hear it when I find a pokemon then run away if it's not what I want. Sometimes I play without looking at the screen because I know the pokemon cries (well ok most of them)

I believe getting all the pokemon to all my games is hard but running around in the grass to find pokemon to trade but at least it got me my entei, suicune and rikou and on my ruby and sapphire it got me my latios and latias!! That's the good thing about the grass I believe. Everybody thanks for you help.

Ahem, there is a Shiny Pokemon guide on the website here:

http://www.psypokes.com/lab/shiny.php

They can be anywhere, and they're incredibly hard to find. Thing is, they're just the same as the originals stat-wise. Just call it a trophy and be proud of yourself. The chance of finding one is 1 in 8192. Calculated out, that's .0122% chance of finding one. I believe that's the same chance of finding a swarm Pokemon from GSC when it's not swarming, or less. (And I actually did find a Dunsparce in Dark Cave out of a swarm. Heh.)

The odds of being able to get a shiny legendary are virtually non existent, though they have the same calculated odds they are only a 1 time deal. Either way I was forunate enough to obtain a shiny dratini and Piplup which are now a lvl 100 legit Dragonite which is AWESOME and an Empoleon fresh out of the Pokemon League so it isn't EV trained due to it being my starter but its still a beast.

They are the same. When starting the battle, there's that 1 in 8192 chance they'll be shiny. It's just more likely a shiny will show up when battling random pokémon because you see so many more of them.

I have been playing pokemon for about nine years now, and in all of this time, I have only found four shiney pokemon, not including the red Gyarados. I only caught three of them. First was a Gligar in my gold version, unfortunatly however, it ran away on the first turn. Second was an Unown V in my crystal version. That was the best game that I played from that generation, and had obtained every pokemon except for Remoraid, Octillary, Tyranitar, and Celebi. It was in my atempt to find a way to get Celebi that I originally found Psypokes. Third was a Tentacool on Route 122 on my way to Mt. Pyre, caught on September 19th, 2006, just before the Toys r Us Mew give away, and is now a level 43 Tentacruel that can hold its own in battle. It was the only pokemon that I trained in that version that was not bred before training. Last was an Electrike that was captured with a cloned Master Ball right off the bat.
