The Ultimate Pokémon Creation Guide by Skandranon

1. Introduction

Alright, this is Skandranon here, writing my first guide ever. This guide is here to show new players how to obtain the Pokémon they want without the help of any sort of cheating device.

2. Overview

There are two basic steps to being able to obtain any Pokémon you want in a very short amount of time. The first is the set-up. You can expect this to take three days to a week to finish everything up, assuming you work at it methodically.

Once the set-up is done, you’re ready to start making Pokémon hump! Well, you know what I mean. After you’re done setting everything up, you should be able to obtain, breed, train, and get them ready to level grind within the day.

3. The Setup

A. First off, you’re going to need a box that looks like this:

{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{macargo}
{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{macargo}
{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}
{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}
{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}.{ditto}

Now, what do 22 Dittos and 2 Macargo have in common? Breeding. I say you are going to want 22 Dittos because you’re going to want a Pokémon of a specific nature. Natures tend to be somewhat hard to come by, especially since you have a 1/25 chance of getting what you want.

Now, there are 20 different stat modifying natures, all of which can be found on Psypokes’ Natures page. Ditto number 21 is for neutral natures. This Dittos are easily obtained by using the Pokéradar east of Canalave City.

The Macargo are there for speedy hatching. They can be easily caught on Stark Mountain at a high level so you don’t have to worry about getting killed while wandering around hatching eggs.

B. Ditto number 22 is very optional, and is only necessary if you want to ensure that your Pokémon have the absolute maximum stats, and it possibly the most difficult step on your way to getting the perfect Pokémon. This Ditto you want to have 31 IVs in all the stats you want. Now, getting a ditto with 31 in EVERY stat can be intimidating, if not impossible, so there is the option of having 6 Dittos, each with a single IV of 31.

C. There are also a few items you’re going to need. Most importantly, there are the EV items. That is, you’re going to want the Power Weight, Power Anklet, Power Band, and all those other items. They can be obtained from the Battle Park. They’re a tad expensive, mind you, so be ready to battle. A lot.

Next, you’re going to want a boatload of money to help pay the daycare lady for all the nice work she’ll do raising your Pokémon as they hump…er…mysteriously hold an egg.

Also, if you feel like juggling an Everstone between all your Dittos, you can do that, but I just took the 30-some I had from my endless underground adventures and made them all hold one.

If you care about the Pokémon’s IVs as well, you’re going to need about 49 rare candies. I’ll explain why later.

D. Get a lot of Pokémon. You know what I mean, just fill up your boxes with everything you can find. You never know when you are going to need a certain Pokémon with a certain egg move to breed into.

4. Pick ‘em.

I won’t go too in-depth in this guide, so you’re going to have to consult someone else if you want to know what Pokémon to use, etc. There are a couple things you are going to want to bear in mind when selecting your Pokémon:
- Egg Moves
- Natures
- EV spread
- Important IVs

5. Breeding time!

Now’s where it gets a little bit complicated. While reading this guide, you can skip any parts that don’t apply to the specific Pokémon, or if you simply don’t care.

A. If your Pokémon has moves you want it to learn purely by egg moves.

This is the part of the Breeding that takes the least amount of effort, but the most amount of research. Psypoke has a very handy guide under “Breeding Info” for each Pokémon and what breeding chain it would take to get that egg move. Unless you know a lot about breeding, I’d suggest using those chains unless otherwise convenient.

When breeding, keep in mind that the female in question determines the species of Pokémon that comes out of the egg, and the male gives the newborn its egg moves, so plan your daycare visits accordingly.

A(i). If your Pokémon has multiple egg moves, then it starts getting really tricky. You’re going to have to make sure that you have a female of the species that you want, as well as a male that is capable of learning both egg moves at some point, whether by breeding chain, TM/HM, or what have you. All you have to keep in mind is that the male MUST know all egg moves you are trying to pass on to your Pokémon, otherwise you’re out of luck.

A(ii). Pokémon of the Ground-type egg group get a special break with Smeargle. Smeargle has a move called Sketch, which allows it to have nearly any move in the entire game, which makes it perfect for breeding egg moves onto other Pokémon.

Now, before you go hunting for three months trying to find a trainer with a Pokémon with the move you want, here’s the easiest way possible: Get a Pokémon, any Pokémon at all that knows the move you want to pass on. Take it to the Move Deleter in Canalave City and make it forget all its moves except the one you want it to pass on. Then, take the Pokémon to the grass just east of Canalave City that you must know so well after capturing all those Dittos.

Make the Pokémon with the move battle the Ditto, and then switch out to Smeargle after the Ditto transforms into your Pokémon. Now, since that Ditto only knows that one attack, you are free to Sketch away. Make Smeargle hold a Focus Sash if he is likely to get killed by the Ditto’s attack.

B. If you care about the Pokémon’s natures

Now, once you have a male Pokémon of the species that you want with the egg moves that you so painstakingly bred into, you can start breeding for natures. Note: this will not work with Pokémon who are female-only. They simply cannot pass on egg moves. You’re going to have to do a bit of hit-and-miss breeding for this one.

Either way, remember all those Dittos you were capturing? Now it’s time to put them to work. Take the male Pokémon and put it in the daycare with the Ditto of the nature you want it to have. (Note: I named my Adamant Ditto “+ATK – SATK”, so I know which is which without looking it up). Now, it’s a matter of breeding into the right nature.

C. If you care about the Pokémon’s IVs

Now, here’s the REALLY REALLY tricky part. You have three options in this case. One option is to keep repeating step B until you get a Pokémon with desirable IVs (you can check IVs by using the rare candies and leveling your Pokémon up to level 50-60 and using Psypoke’s DV/IV Calcuator).

C(i). One of the better options only really works if your Pokémon has no egg moves. Using this technique, you breed your Pokémon with a Ditto with 31 IVs in the stats you want it to have. Also, unless you want your Pokémon to be absolutely perfect, I’d only suggest breeding into the stats you really want. For example, you would breed your Alakazam for Special Attack and Speed. Giving him Defense and Attack won’t really do much, and just give you a bigger headache.

Now, the reason you are able to breed into stats is because the mother and the father of the Pokémon will pass on a total of 3 IVs on to the Pokémon. Sometimes, it will try to give you the same stat from the same parent 3 times, so you basically have about a 1/4 chance to pass on a single stat. Use the 49 rare candies you collected earlier to find the Pokémon’s stats and compare to the one doing the breeding. If it has better stats, switch it in.

C(ii). If your Pokémon has egg moves, the technique for breeding it into EVs is a lot trickier. There is one of two paths to take here. Firstly, you can have a Ditto with the correct nature as well as IVs, and a male Pokémon with the correct egg moves. The second technique is more time consuming to set up, but probably faster when breeding. Breed a female Pokémon of the species you want with the IVs you want, AS WELL as the nature you want, with a male of the Pokémon species that knows the egg moves. That way, the female will be passing on the IVs and nature, and the male will be passing on the egg moves.

6. You're done breeding! Hooray! Now it's time to train!

A. Training for EVs

Alright, this part is going to be a cakewalk when compared to breeding. All you have to do is fight enough of the right Pokémon until you finally get all EV trained up, so you can take on the Elite 4 over and over until you reach level 100!

Here is a list of trainers you can fight using the Vs. Seeker that will yield a large amount of a single type of EVs. When combined with the appropriate EV Band, you can get between 5 and 6 EVs per Pokémon! These are much more efficient than trying to run around and bump into the right Pokémon in the wild, and you will collect EVs much faster.

HP:
Route 209 - Cowgirl Shelley - Bidoof[1](14)/Bidoof[1](15)/Bidoof[1](15)/Bidoof[1](15)/Bidoof[1](16)

Attack:
Route 206 - Cyclist Rachel - Shinx[1](15)/Shinx[1](15)
Route 218 - Fisherman Miguel - Gyarados[2](29)/Gyarados[2](29)

Defense
Route 212 - Collector Dominique - Geodude[1](17)/Geodude[1](18)/Geodude[1](19)

Special Attack:
Route 214 - Collector Douglas - Roselia[2](20)/Roselia[2](22)/Roselia[2](24)

Special Defense:
Route 210 - Ninja Boy Davido - Dustox[3](27)
Sunnyshore City - Surfing - Tentacruel[2]

Speed:
Route 205 - Fisherman Andrew - Magikarp[1](10)/Magikarp[1](10)/Magikarp[1](10)/Magikarp[1](10)/Magikarp[1](10)/Magikarp[1](10)

Now, if your Pokémon is too weak to battle the trainer with the EV you want, take it through the Elite Four once or twice. Alternatively, you can try to teach it a TM or Heart Scale move that is Super Effective against whatever you're training against. Either way, the key here is to be able to KO the opponent's Pokemon as quickly as possible. A single run will yield the following results if your trainee is holding an EXP Share:

29434 Experience Points (Puts you at ~ level 29 from level 1)
HP EVs: 8 (Pomeg)
ATK EVs: 7 (Kelpsy)
DEF EVs: 14 (Qualot x2)
SATK EVs: 13 (Hondew x2)
SDEF EVs: 10 (Grepa)
SPD EVs: 7 (Tamato)

After the run, simply feed your Pokémon the berries listed next to the undesirable EVs, and you'll be ready to slaughter hundreds of thousand of Magikarp for the next few hours. Happy hunting!

B. The Grind.

Now it's time for the level grind. As with any level-up-experience-point game, you're going to want to pack on as many modifiers as you can. You're going to want to do 3 things:
1. Acquire a Lucky Egg for your Pokemon to hold.
2. Get a second Diamond or Pearl game.
3. If you have the second Diamond or Pearl game, tell the game that you are from a different country as your original game. (via GTS)

That way, your Pokémon's experience points will be multiplied by 2.2 (+0.5 for Lucky Egg, +0.5 for different OT, +0.2 for foreign Pokémon) when training in your other game. This method will cut your training time in less than half.

There is only one place you are going to be training. The Elite 4. That's right, you're going to go through them over and over again until you get to level 100. There really isn't a whole lot else to it.

C. Finishing Touches

Alright, you're almost done! There are only two things left to do, and it cannot possibly get any easier than this: TM moves and Heart Scale Tutor moves. After that you can get your ribbons, capsules, and anything else you may want, and you're done! I promise you that the satisfaction of saying, "Yeah, my Pokémon is 100% legitimate. Let's see your legit team." Then you laugh as you trounce their level 62 Empoleon and level 65 Kaaza that they abandoned after the elite 4.

I made exaxtly same type of guide few months ago. (Guide to Advanced reeding)

In start before cathing Dittos, i recommend having Right natured Synchronizers. This can help tremondously because you have very small chances of finding ditto with Right nature and IV:s.

A good tip is, that you can save in front of the egg. If the egg has Right nature but Wrong IV:s, Reset. This is, because The nature is already set when DC-Man is in front of the normal place, but IV:s generate only then when you take the egg. This can also be used to S-Reset Shinies (One Smogoner did it, and good amazing shiny Polliwag)

Daycare and Rare Candies are better ways of training, you don't need berries.

Remember that some moves come from 3rd generation tutors, and so cannot be given to some pokes. (For example, Nasty Plot and Body Slam Togekiss is illegal)
