In the Pokemon video games, one of the major goals is to catch every single Pokemon. The closest equivalent that people have in real life is to acquire one or more cards for each Pokemon. Way back at the turn of the decade, when I bought Pokemon cards regularly as a collector, I dreamed of having one card for every Kanto Pokemon. By the time the Neo cards were being released in 2001, I kind of gave up on buying Pokemon cards for a few years until I bought some packs last month. From there I apparently addicted half of #psypoke on the TCG again, traded with some of them, won an eBay auction or two for hundreds of cards each, and most recently bought a booster box with my birthday money. Combining my cards from back in the day with the newer cards I've bought in 2009, I'm only missing the following Pokemon from my collection: -Kanto Pokemon: NONE. -Johto Pokemon: NONE. --Missing Unowns: NONE. -Hoenn Pokemon: NONE. -Sinnoh Pokemon: Arceus (Hasn't been released in English yet - coming this November!!) Update 2/14: I got my Entei and Skuntank (as well as a ripped up Articuno/burned up Zapdos) from Krisp after I thought that they were lost in the mail! Update 2/25: I got my Tyranitar, Huntail, Gallade, Origin Giratina and Shaymin cards from Krisp! <3 Update 2/28: I got my Drapion, Unown C, Unown D and Unown Q cards in the mail from a seller on eBay. Update 3/2: I HAVE A CARD FOR EVERY KANTO POKEMON! <3 - I got my letter from Registeel_Rocks with Nidoking, Alakazam, Unown K, Beautifly, Staraptor, Wormadam, Wormadam Steel, Lickilicky, Mamoswine, Froslass, Dialga, Phione and Shaymin. Update 3/2: I HAVE A CARD FOR EVERY JOHTO POKEMON! <3 - I got my order from an eBay seller with Raikou, Suicune, Skyridge Dewgong and a promo Manaphy, as well as my order from another seller that had Ho-oh, Deoxys, Gastrodon East and Gastrodon West! Update 3/2: I also got my order from another seller for Unown F, Unown P, Unown M, Shieldon, two Probopass, Burmy Trash, Wailord, Vigoroth, Bronzong, Garchomp and Skymin (as well as Secret Wonders Jynx/Seel and Mysterious Treasures Uxie) Update 3/3: Today I got my order with Exploud, Unown O, Old Amber, Helix Fossil and Dome Fossil (as well Unseen Forces Jynx, Mysterious Treasures Dewgong, EX Dragon 74 Spoink and Majestic Dawn Piplup)! I also got my order with 12 out of 18 of the Southern Islands cards, so now I'm only missing Mew's and Ivysaur's. :3 Update 3/6: I finally finally FINALLY got a Togekiss card! Actually, I got two (as part a long story I don't feel like telling), so now both Krisp and I get a Togekiss. :o Update 3/7: I got a Bastiodon card in a lot of 300 rare cards that I won on eBay! Only Lumineon left (out of the ones I can get now)! :D Update 5/11: It took awhile, but I finally got my hands on a Lumineon. Update 6/8: I received my card of my favorite Rotom form, Mow Rotom, in the mail! Update 6/10: I got my cards for Fan, Frost and Heat Rotom! :D Update 6/11: I got my last missing card, Wash Rotom, by trading my SMB3 cartridge for it when I met Krisp in Indiana. <3 For years, in addition to Nidoking and Alakazam, Pidgeot, Clefable, Poliwrath, Chansey, Scyther, Ditto, Snorlax and Moltres had all evaded me. But, two weeks ago, I won an auction for about 425 Pokemon cards (almost all of them for a different Pokemon) and finally got almost all of the Kanto that I had been missing for years! Unfortunately, I'm still lacking Nidoking and Alakazam, but hopefully I'll get them one day and complete the set of Kanto Pokemon (which was my original dream, even though it has been replaced by "get a card of EVERY Pokemon" now). In addition, out of all of the Pokemon that I'm currently missing, the one I want the very most is Togekiss. Togekiss is my third favorite Pokemon EVER and I really like its Great Encounters card (this, by the way, is the only Togekiss card released in English so far). I was really, really hoping that I'd get one in the first auction that I won and I did. But then I realized that it and fifteen other cards from that first auction were counterfeits (including Ho-oh, Beautifly, Exploud, Bronzong and Gallade, which are the counterfeit cards for which I'm still missing legit copies). And I didn't win a Togekiss in the second auction that I won on eBay. Krisp even tried to win me a Togekiss card in a cheap auction, but some guy outbid her every time until she didn't have enough money left in her Paypal to buy it. So I'm still Togekiss-less right now. :( In the booster box that I bought, I got a bunch of rare Pokemon that I was missing from my collection, including Politoed! (one of my favorite Pokemon; I also got an AWESOME Jirachi and Dragonite), and it was totally worth the birthday money that I spent to buy it. However, I ended up not getting seven rares from the set (three were Ditto, Mewtwo and Heatran, who I already had; four were Froslass, Mamoswine, Probopass and Deoxys, who I didn't already have). The frustrating part? I got reverse holo "duplicates" of seven rares in the set. So if my luck were just a little bit better, I could have gotten every single rare card in that set, rather than missing out on seven of them (two of which being Froslass and Mamoswine, two of my favorite new evolutions in DPP). Oh well. Any rare and elusive Pokemon card stories you'd like to share? How many Pokemon are you missing from your collections? |

Just to update regarding the holes in my collection, between my last trade with Krisp, my upcoming trade with Registeel_Rocks, and cards that I bought myself on eBay (since I just got a verified PayPal account), I'm now only missing cards of Arceus and the five Rotom appliances. But I still have to wait for all of those cards to come in the mail! Maybe later I'll update my full list of cards. I have one here but it's a few weeks out of date. |

Um, I believe I have all 493 except the Rotom Forms, Regirock, Garchomp, Giratina-O, Skymin, and a few Arceus forms. |
