I think that the people writing the anime are running out of ideas. I recently noticed this.

Episode 21: Bye Bye, Butterfree - Ash has to part with his butterfree, because it falls in love with a shiny butterfree and they have to go across the ocean.


Episode 541: Crossing paths - Jessie has to part with her dustox, because it falls in love with a shiny dustox, and it has to go over the mountain

It almost amazes me.
