Discontinuation of consoles is always a problem. If you could bring one back, what would it be? My personal choice is the Super NES. Oh, just ignore the poll. There was a slight error...

Edit: There turned out to be nothing wrong. Vote if you want.

I agree with you all the way on the Super NES. In my opinion it was one of the best consoles ever with some of the funnest games I've ever played. If I had to get rid of all my consoles except one, I'd pick my beloved Super NES. :)

I didn't really see a reason why Nintendo consoles had to be the only options for your poll, so I fixed that.

I voted for Sega Genesis. It faired much better than the Master System, Dreamcast, and Saturn as far as sales were concerned. Sega tried to keep it alive with the Sega CD and 32x, but if you know anything about Sega's history, you know CD and 32x failed miserably.

SEGA Genesis, ftw.

It was better than half the other old systems - better graphics, for me anyways, than the Playstation, N64, and even PS2 (I swear)

The GameBoy! It's extinct now, and I wish I had more things to do with my GBC which is lying unused in my drawer now.

But anyway, back to the topic on consoles, I choose the Sega Genesis. It was the first ever console I owned, and I was reasonably satisfied with the graphics, game titles and overall feel. Of course, there's that nostalgia factor =p

It depends on what we mean by the "re-continuation" of a console. If we were to pick any that had to be brought back to produce games again, I say it'd have to be the SNES. I think it produce the best games with the kind of versatility that isn't used today, as far as graphics and ability to produce games of substance without being overly complex. However, games as such could be produced by today's consoles by simplifying its system.

If by the question, we mean to reproduce the console, peripherals, and software, I would prefer to keep them all, but to pick just one would be hard. To elect the roots of modern gaming, the accepted "best," or my personal opinion as to what was best is not something I couldn't choose. Options like the Virtual Console, third party consoles, and the reproduction of games into a higher format help preserve classics, but ultimately gaming is also a hobby of collecting as well as entertainment and conquer.

I would vote for Dreamcast. It had the coolest games & really good gameplay. It also helps that I have been a huge Sega fan since the original Sega console. LONG LIVE SEGA!!

Nintendo 64. It was the very first console I ever owned, and it gave me some of my fondest Gaming memories...

In fact, I still play it the N64. It holds a special place in my gaming collection, still hooked up and in good condition :D

The N64.
Just yesterday I was playing, "Hey You, Pikachu!" on it.

Too bad the N64 is far too old, and isn't cost efficient enough to have new games made for it.
You can only wish I suppose. :P

I'd have to say the Sega Genesis or as I remember it, the Mega Drive as it was known over here in good 'ol Blighty. It was my first console and I never stopped loving it, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage, Paperboy... Back when Sonic was my idol and I spent my days playing Streets of Rage with Kryten after school. I must say we were rather good at it, for four year olds.
