It's official: Both #1 Missouri and #2 West Virginia have lost on the final saturday in college football.

What does this mean? Certainly #3 Ohio State will make it to the BCS Championship. But for spot #2, there is Georgia, LSU, and Virginia Tech that have a chance.

Georgia's one of the hottest teams in college football right now. A couple of early losses hurts, but scoring 40+ points against Florida and Auburn is great.

Virginia Tech squeaked by a good BC team, but didn't look so great throughout most of the game. Decent season, but did win their conference unlike Georgia.

LSU has lost TWO of the three games that they have been ranked #1 in. However, both of these were in Triple overtime. Like VT, they won their conference and may be able to jump.

Who's it gonna be?

It's wide open at the moment. It could be Georgia, Va Tech, LSU, Kansas, USC or Oklahoma. It all depends on how the human and computer polls shake out tomorrow. There is a reasoning for why every one of these teams should and shouldn't be in

Georgia (10-2)
Why: Have played inspired football as of late. SEC is a top-notch conference.
Why not: They were stomped by Tennessee, and lost at home to South Carolina. Didn't even play for their conference championship.

Va Tech (11-2)
Why: Have played great recently. Won the ACC.
Why not: Play in a bad conference. Got stomped by LSU early in the season.

LSU (11-2)
Why: Lost both games in triple overtime. SEC is a top-notch conference, one which they won. Beat Va Tech
Why not: Both teams that beat them are currently unranked, and the Arkie loss was at home. LSU needed tons of luck to beat an Alabama team that lost to UL-Monroe.

Kansas (11-1)
Why: Only one loss BCS conference team left other than Ohio State. Only loss is to Mizzou. Kansas' schedule is really comparable to that of Ohio State.
Why not: Weak schedule. Lost to only great team they played. Didn't play for their conference championship.

USC (10-2)
Why: Have played great recently. Won the Pac-10. Booty was hurt during one of their losses. Dennis Dixon was still playing for Oregon when USC lost to the Ducks.
Why not: Lost to 4-8 Stanford, and soon-to-be-unranked Oregon. Have struggled against bad teams (Washington and Arizona).

Oklahoma (11-2)
Why: Have played great recently. Both losses were close games (a TD or less MoV) on the road, one of which they lost the nation's passing efficiency leader for. Beat #1 Missouri (that ranking will drop, but not out of the top 10) twice. Won the Big 12.
Why not: Lost to 6-6 Colorado. Struggled somewhat against Iowa State. Fairly weak out of conference schedule. Both teams that beat them are currently unranked.

I would guess LSU is going to play for the National Championship against tOSU, but Kansas, Georgia and Virginia Tech are all very possible. Oklahoma and USC still have a shot, though it looks bleak for both.

EDIT: It looks like the the spots are down to Ohio State, LSU and Oklahoma. It's probably OSU/LSU, but Oklahoma is still in it.
