I have had my Metallic Silver DS Lite for three months now.
All of a sudden it started to act weird yesterday. You know that Start up settings that come up when you first turn on your DS Lite? Well Everytime I turn it on even though I already entered the settings it comes up again and I type in today's date and it comes out as 00/00/2000 and the current time which ends up as 0:00. Not only that but the calendar has more than 50 days each month. Is this caused by a memory problem with the DS? If so then what could have possibly caused it?

lol, Y2K.
I don't think it would be a memory problem. Because I don't think it takes memory to remember that there is 28-31 days in a month. Then again, It is technology.

i have NO idea what's wrong with your DS. i've had mine for almost three years now, and it's fine. Did you drop yours really hard, step on it, get it wet, or something that would damage it internally? You could just buy a new one if the problem persists.

Try opening the battery compartment, taping the battery in, and whenever you aren't using it set it upside down.
