Does anyone here other than me like her?
Let Go and UMS were the best, and for awhile, TBDT was great, but now it's just irritating. It's frustrating to see a capable singer waste all her talent on a very lousy new sound. She may not have changed, but her music style has, and for the worst. Her new songs aren't memorable like her oldies. I still support her, but I pray for her next album she does something better, that fully unleashes her capabilities and connects with the user. Plus, being a fan of a pink obsessed, cheerleader type singer with scores of 11-year old fans isn't a very pleasant thing. I think "Girlfriend" ranks in the top five worst compositions ever.
And I don't know what she thinks she's doing with this whole new bad girl image she's trying to make for herself. There's a line in "Girlfriend" about her being "the mothereffing princess," when 90% of her fanbase is still obsessed with the Disney princesses. Makes no sense. Parents won't buy this CD for their eight-, nine-, and ten-year-old girls. |

Avril Lavigne's song " Girlfriend " is probably talking about her being a lesbian like she is today... No offense to anybody that likes her songs... I just find "Girlfreind" annoying...

I liked a few songs 4 or 5 years ago but now I think she's abandoned her original image only for the newer audiences of Chavs, basically.
I doubt I'd like her music now because I'm in to mostly rock but she's a lot worse than she used to be, in my opinion. Before her music was like "don't change who you are to impress people" and now it's like "let's go stealing other people's partner because I'm better than them and I want you". Hmm... It sounds worse too, catchy or not. _________________ Mmkay. |

I listened to an Avril Lavigne album when I was on holiday to Hungary last year. Forgive me; this was before I developed even the semblance of musical taste - also, I was bored shetless and I didn't have anything better to do with my time. In years past, I liked Skater Boi a *bit*, and I admit I still find the tune a little catchy. Other than that, no I don't really like her. _________________  |

Avril Lavigne's music is utter trash, *in my opinion*. Perhaps a few songs can be somewhat catchy, but at the same time, they're horrendous.

I like the fact that it's supposed to be fast and fun, because her previous album, even though it was good, was a bit too slow for my liking. I think that this album will be, without a doubt, her best do far. And about her 2 latest songs, 'Keep Holding On' which is one, is a really beautiful song, but 'Girlfriend' is definitely more addictive. It's fun, fast, and the video is hilarious! I LOVE Avril! She ranks #2 after Evanescence for me. Though I don't like her sudden image change, it's a little unnerving. Have you ever heard the song she never completed called "Daydream"? THAT was a very beautiful song, I just wish she had finished it! |

Her new music is pretty good, but I really love her album "let go".

Eh, her music's okay. She has a few like "My Happy Ending" and "When You're Gone" that I really enjoy, but I've never bothered to buy one of her whole albums. However, I'm glad she's decided to choose an image and stick with it.

Avril's old stuff is okay, pretty good but as of lately... I rather hate her, the song "Girlfriend" gives me a headache (not to mention she didn't give credit to the original singer,) and she dyed her hair blonde and PINK, which is the most ditzy color combination you can get. Now she's just really a cussing pop singer... She is not punk, no matter how many times she says she is. I really don't have a completely bad or good opinion on her, although it leans more towards bad now.

Personally I've listened to the song that she 'stole' and it talks about a guy who doesn't like someone's boyfriend. Then he says "I wanna be your boyfriend' that is the only thing that is almost the same... It's stupid. She wrote Girlfriend, but she wrote it with another band member. I agree though. Her old stuff was a lot better, she put more heart into it. I'm not saying that she didn't put her heart & soul into 'the best damn thing' but it just doesn't work with the genre she was working for. It's more pop sounding now; she said that the reason for the difference in the past albums between the current one is that she was 'happier'... Does that mean she wasn't happy when she made the other ones?  Oh well, I hope that she does go back to her original technique. |
