Being 61 and playing is totally out of the question then. I'll have to tell my wife there's still hope in 31 years.

One big reason I asked this question is because I noticed not a lot of adults winning in the Journey Across America Tour contests. I didn't know if that's because they don't play or they just lose. Right now, I'm 3 years older than the oldest winner. I don't know if I'd go and feel bad for beating kids half my age or feel embarrassed for being beaten by them.

Yeah, I will play Pokemon for ages, the games are amazing and people think it is stupid? Why? Because they ph33r my l33t pokemon skills. Nah, it's because of the anime, as many people have said. It was aimed at younger children, so people think that because you play the games, you are a child.

Wrong. I am 14 at the moment and I know people who are 26 who play it. Pokemon is for all ages, sizes and genders. I couldn't care less if someone saw me playing sapphire/silver/leaf green/emerald on the street. I am proud to play it no matter what.

sometimes I wish the anime haden't ruined pokemon's reputation >.<
why can't they just...uh....make the anime cool? Why can't it have blood and pokemon killing eachother? then pokemon will get the respect it deserves :) .
I'm 11 at the moment (12 on 14th April, which is in 4 days) and I'm probably the only 1 who likes it, coz everyone else is a social freak and think it's for 8 year olds.
the above is a real pain, and I wish life wasn't like that, but too bad for ol' me.... it is.... :(

I am 14 yrs. old and I play Pokemon. I hate the fact that being in high school you cannot discuss anything pokemon related or else the whole school knows in 30 sec. so me and my friends secretly play pokemon amongst our own time. I just wish that people in high school would act like kids in High School. Teasing and picking on people for something they luike isnt something you would expect from 15-18 yr. olds but it happens. I hate that fact. I do anything that has pokemon in it including Video games, Cards, and the TV show. So in my eyes I see no stopping point for adults and kids to stop playing pokemon. I am going to be playing it until I die. but to the point there is no age to old for Pokemon

Never too old I say.
I'm 13 and in 7th grade.
Anyway, its the Anime that gives it a reputation.
BUT I don't see the real big difference in DBZ and Pokemon..
Except that Pokemon is a bit less mature but nowadays who cares.
Course, if anyone cared that I played Pokemon, they wouldnt mess with me.

I don't care what people think. I am 27 and when I was about 23 I got a tattoo of Electabuzz on my right shoulder and then again at 24 or so I got Mewtwo on my left shoulder and too tell the truth it is a little embarrassing at times, but then I figured only one person can judge me for what I do and to the rest I could care less.

I'm 14 and been playing it since one day I was sick and had nothing to do, so I went out and bought pokemon blue a long time ago (1997 probably). Then I watched Ash defeat Sabrina after hearing about how cool it was at school

Been a fan ever since

Hmm.... you aren't too old. Even 50 years old people aren't too old. Pokemon is for everyone, for old and for young people. I'm 24 and I still like pokemon, sometimes I watch anime, play games. Its my hobby. I'm not perverted, I'm not close-minded, I'm a normal girl who likes pokemon ;) I didn't say about it to my friends because they don't know it and it isn't their business. They don't need to know about everything. Probably if I tell them they will look at me with  That why I will keep as a secret.

It is never the question of how old you are, it is the question of those who grow tried of it. I'm 18 and still a fan of the Pokemon world. It really depends on personality. Personality of a person can change along with likes and dislikes, but over any peroid of time. In over words no one is ever too old to play pokemon games and so on.

I agree that the anime is -- kind of -- giving Pokemon a bad name. Of course, since my parents are paranoid about violence and the like, I wouldn't want it to have blood and Pokemon killing humans. But I would like to see it a little more violent, like showing a bit of blood, or some type of Pokemon fighting another in the wild, without using standard battle moves that do no more damage than knocking the other out.

I remember when I was in fifth grade -- now I'm thirteen and in eighth -- and I was doodling a random Pokemon on my planner. Some kid looks over my shoulder and scoffs, "You like Pokemon?" in disgusted disbelief. Whenever I asked him how he would know, he said that he watched the show when he was five. That's the show. Not the games. So now I try to hide the fact that I like Pokemon in school, unless I see someone else mentioning it in a positive way.

The games can be challenging -- I'm not really one of those people who can beat the Elite Four in two days and catch all 200 + Hoenn Pokemon in another two days -- and even for adults. Nintendo are like my parents -- paranoid that we would start picking up guns and shooting people if it happened on the show. I was replaying my Colloseum game for the heck of it, and the instant a Zigzagoon faints, by grandpa -- who was sitting on the couch watching -- gasped, "Pokemon kill each other?" I have to go and explain the whole thing about knocking the others out and being able to heal them.

Sorry to get off subject, but basically, what I think is that if you like it, heck, play it! And older age groups tend to be more respectful, so there's no fear of being laughed at.

There's no age limit on Pokemon.

People who love to hate:

"Sheesh!! Pokemon is for little kids!!"

WRONG!! Pokemon is NOT just for little kids.

In Japan, trading card games are a common way for all ages to pass the time. Well, Pokemon started as a trading card game called Pocket Monsters in Japan ( I can see that the diehard Pokefans are all rolling their eyes. I know you guys know this, I'm just illustrating my point). Therefore, while obviously intended attract the ever-spending eye of the younger generation with its lovable characters and bright colors, it was also totally acceptable for adults to play it.

This whole "Pokemon is for babies" ordeal manifested after the game left the land of the rising sun.

In fact, I'll bet that at least seven out of ten self proclaimed Pokemon haters (you know, the ones that mock you for having Gold version in your pocket) secretly enjoy the game in some taboo part of their mind, but due to the invisible age requirement that society and peer pressure have cast upon the game and those who may like it, they keep it to themselves. Thus, they mock those of us who could give a flying leap what other people think as a way to try and convince everyone (including themselves) that they are "mature" and "cool".

I'm an 18 year old High School Senior, and I LOVE Pokemon (Just the video games, though. I honestly could care less about the anime/TCG, no offense to anyone who might like them.), and you know what? I'm proud of it, because it shows that there is no silly age restriction on Pokemon, and that the whole concept of such a restriction was spawned by sad little people in a sad little world.

I'm 14 and i've been playing for God knows how long. And my teacher she's like 40 something and she supports her kids with pokemon games and she knows like every version. Once she caught this kid playing his DS with a cartrage of Sapphire in it. Then suddenly to my surprise I found her in an intelectual conversation with the kid about the game! :? That was an extremely big surprise for the class! So I say there really isn't an end point to your pokemon life as long as you've played for a while. Pokemon games is somekind of a drug. A very very good drug which adicts you to it. So for all you know you'll be like 100 and sitting in your coffin playing a DS 5000 or something! Long live pokemon! {pikachu}

<---- 14 years old and I still play it. Although I'm getting annoyed at how many generations are coming out, I still play my B/Y/G/C. I watch the anime to. It's very childish, but I watch it so i can imagine what Pokemon would be like in real life.

1st gen = good
2nd gen = good
3rd gen = meh
4th gen = ****

4th gen is turning into yu-gi-oh

I agree with most of you guys. I think that it's okay to play the games, no matter what age you are, I really like them, and it seems that my school doesn't have such a mocking attitude towards pokemon. In fact, before summer vacation, a lot of my friends, and kids in my class, played pokemon, to some extent. And so do I. (Well duh. I'm posting on a pokemon forum. :P ) And most of them liked it just because it was the best RPG they could get for their GBAs. But still. I couldn't care less about the trading cards or anime. I mean, I watched the first episode a long time ago, but haven't since.

Those who say pokemon is for children don't undertand it. It requires a lot of strategy and planing wich lesser minds and young kids can't grasp. Furthermore i don't see a reason why older people can't play given the circumstances.

I'm 12 years old and I think a lot of people at my school make fun of people who play pokemon because thay know that if they play/watch it that they will get bullied to. Theres about 10 people in my year that like it (you may know shadow deoxys and pokemon hero rio) and we just put up with the taunts. By the way I'm real annoyed coz I missed out on the anime for absolutely ages (didn't even see Orange Islands!) ahhhhh!

thats me done...

I am 13! What I don't get is the fact that it has and age limit! Why should it? If you are 35, and still enjoy pokemon, I think you should be able to without the "Oh, you like pokemon! Baby!". I mean, it says on the games and such "Sutible for all ages." Why don't other people act like it?
