I didn't know where else to ask this so I guess I'll just ask here. I have pokemon Emerald and a Gameboy Advanced, one of my friends has Pokemon Diamond or Pearl and a DS. We tried trading/battling but it wouldn't work for some reason. When ever we went into the Union Room the other didn't appear. When we tried battling it just said waiting for other player(s) to connect (I don't know if that's what it says but close enough). Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?

You can't trade or battle between any Advance gen games (i.e. emerald) and DS gen (pearl/diamond) sorry

However you can transfer from Emerald to D/P but it is one way and you won't get anything in return :roll:

You can not trade or battle between FR, LG, RSE and DP. But you can Migrate your Pokemon from FR, LG, RSE to DP after you beat the Pokemon League and complete the National Dex, by seeing, not catching, all 150 Pokemon in DP, then going to the Pal Park, located at the end of route 221. Note that you can only Migrate once every 24 hours. Migrating invloves inputting the GBA pack into the GBA pack slot on the DS. Go to the main screen where the options are, Continue, New Game, Migrate from (insert GBA game name here), and Options. Choose Migrate from (insert GBA game name here). AND you CAN NOT trade you Pokemon BACK. So once they have migrated to DP, they are stuck in DP.

you have to transfer from r/s/e and fr/lg to Diamond/Pearl. however, you have to unlock Pal Park before being able to transfer. To unlock Pal Park you have to complete the first pokedex (just fight every trainer around)...hope i helped...

And if he doesn't have the game yet he is hardly likely to want to know how to get to pal park :roll: instead he just wants to know if it is possible to trade - answer: no, but you can transfer from GBA games to D/P

For the last time, you DO NOT need to beat the league to get the national dex and pal park opened, just normally you complete the sinnoh dex after you beat the league.
