But they're not fat, they're supposed to be "big and strong" mountain men.

I like the Chuck Norris idea. They appear big because of all the equipment they have?

Well honestly, you don't see any like bone thin hikers. I mean you gotta be intimidating to the wild bears and stuff.....being small dosen't help too mmuch.

But they can't be too fat either. If hikers are too fat, they did move slower than others and waste their own sweet time.
