Who else's love for pokemon is a secret from their friends? Mine is...

Thats the problem for being a pokeaddict and not wanting to be a 'nerd' or 'geek' in school. I mean, I'm just like ever1 in just about everything, w/ the stuff that my friends and I are into, but I also like pokemon...I can't give it up cuz i think that itz cool, (i've been a pokefan for 8 years ) but being in middle school and liking pokemon is almost a crime

I'm not a person who goes around, broadcasting the that I love playing the Pokemon games and watch the show and stuff (unlike some annoying 6th graders I've met, who's life's mission is to tell the world he got 52674th place at a yugioh tournament sponsored by Wal-mart -.- ), but if someone asks me if I play it, I'll say yes, shrug nonchalantly, and move on with my life.

After being absorbed in this game for 10+ years, I wear my badges proudly. My Pokémon helped me through some rough times while I was going through high school, so if anyone makes fun of them I just go, "Whatever." because those people obviously wouldn't understand how awesome this game can be, :3

Aye... My friends hate it, and i don't want them to hate me. So to be honest, i just don't go near it. If they start talking like they're going to go near it, i butt in and talk about a game i'm making. (Acid eagle or angel's death.)

I have some friends that play so they know, but most of my friends don't have a clue since they'd rip me to shreds and call me immature and stuff, despite me being the most mature one. It's stupid, i know. Aren't we allowed to have something to remind us of those less stressful times from our younger days.

I don't tell everyone else either. I play it now and then at work or outside and if someone asks me what I'm doing I tell them the truth. I'm playing Pokemon on a DS Lite. If they think it's stupid I can just tell them it is a very difficult game and it is not anything like the anime, which is what most people base it off of. And most importantly, I tell them don't knock it if you haven't tried it.

Well, since most of my friends play Pokemon, I don't keep the fact that I like the Pokemon games a secret from them. I don't randomly tell other people about that, though. If someone else comes up to me during lunch and asks what I'm playing on my DS, I tell them. If they make fun of me, I just ignore them. Simple as that.

Playing pokemon in High School is...bad.

I dont have to keep it secret from my friends but i have to keep it secret from every1 else (which is most ppl cuz to be honest i dont have much friends ). I would get torn apart but i do still play it in front of them .

Some of my friends play it but if some1 else asks me wat im doin i tell them playin pokemon.

I.....have a few friends who play it. as im in middle school i find i like to keep a secret to everyone exept those friends. As im in middle school too, i just say to myslelf "theres 30 year olds who play it, i shouldent worry"...but i dont tell anyone.

I don't yell it through the hallways, but yeah, my friends know. I have a good amount of friends that play it as well, some of which are even more hardcore about it than I am, and the rest of my friends that don't play it respect the fact that we play it. I mean, there's occassional poking fun, but it's all in good humor and they're not being seriously offensive. So yeah, I'm by no means a closet fan, because it's an interest that I share with some of my closest friends, it's all good.

In fact like six of us are getting together today to play Battle Revolution. (^)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I'm going into my senior year of high school. So my advice to the middle schoolers ashamed to admit it, there's really no shame in it honestly. And if your friends can't respect what you do in your spare time for fun, are they really your friends?

I think that people who think pokemon is immature, don't understand the strategy behind it. They didn't take the time to learn about EVs and competitive strategy.

I agree, some of my friends know, but the weird thing is the rival middle school to my middle school had a pokemon club, where they would meet after school, and watch and play pokemon and now they are going to the same high school as me and will probably deny it. btw, I will be a freshmen this fall.
