Nothing is wrong with you. The info you looked up here says it all. I don't mean to be rude, but that's just the way it is. This probably isn't much of a help to you coming from a person who ultimately couldn't care less about Shinies, but...what can I say? Sure, I think Shinies are nice and it would be great to have one. I had a gold Pidgey in Silver (I mentioned this in another thread...the official Shiny thread). I owned Red and Silver and now own Crystal and Emerald, and it was the only one I had (aside from some I had through Gameshark on Silver, but since then--6 years ago-- I have sworn off cheats FOR GOOD. Not worth it! At all!) Perhaps you could ask someone--perhaps someone who has a few to spare and who doesn't really care about theirs either--to trade with you. Or, if you had Pearl or Diamond, you could use the GTS to find someone with some legit ones.

Anyways, those are my two cents. Honestly, I think this discussion will go nowhere.

this is going to get locked i bet, anyhoo... it's silly to 'Try' for a shiney... you can play through the games and cross you fingures. All i found was a yellow swabu that when i own the battle tower i will train properly.

there's a 1/8192 chance. Not having any shinies is not uncommon. However, if you really want shinies, and have DP, someone could trade you cloned shinies...

Silly? With the pokeradar, shiny hunting is easy.
But w/o the radar I've seen about 4000 pokes in pearl and no shiny... Only had 1 shiny ever (gold magikarp)...

Don't fret dude. I had nearly 500 hours on my Silver and never once ran into a Shiny. Then again I didn't know about Shiny's until my friend said he caught a Shiny Tentacool. And that was roughly 300 hours into the game.

I've never come across a shiny pokémon on my own. I've seen them in battle, but that's it. I have managed to secure a shiny Magneton, but that was a trade on the GTS that I snatched up right quick because I happened to have a level 10 female Spiritomb.

Then again, I used a shiny Ratticate in PBR once, but it wasn't mine, it was in the random colosseum.

I never got a shiny. I ALMOST got a siny nosepass over the GTS, but I was just about 10 seconds late. I also followed the games since the the first gen. Soooooooo, we're just unlucky.

So how does shiny hunting with the pokéradar work then? There have been plenty of people saying that shinies appear as multicoloured flashing patches, but does a chain actually increase the chances of getting a shiny at all? I would be likely to guess no :roll:

And Shiny 'hunting' is simply luck... although on average you should get 1 in every 8000 (roughly) some people may get over 100 whereas some (like you) may get 0 for many more than that...

Just because it makes hunting shinies easier doesn't mean it improves one's chance of catching a shiny. You just have to have lots and lots of repels so that other wild pokemon don't interfer with the hunt. It may take some time (well more than some), but sooner or later you will find grass that shines, showing where the shiny Pokemon is making it that much easier.

Lol. I have about 5 shinies I think. Not sure but it's at least 5 or more. My shiny Umbreon pwns all. Shiny Rattata was the first shiny pokemon I ever caught. It appeared at an unexpected time while I was playing FireRed. I was lucky that I had a few ultra balls. I have a shiny Cranidos in Diamond. So far that's my only shiny pokemon in Diamond. I got it from an egg. It wasn't the nature I wanted though so I'm not using it.

Just keep trying and someday a shiny pokemon will appear.

And the pokeradar doesn't improve your chances, it just makes shiny hunting easier. And a 1 in 8000 chance isn't good at all, especially since that won't go down when you see a poke. Just trade for one, i would if i had wi-fi.

You're not alone. Well, I've had shinies in the past, but I haven't encountered any in a long time.

Don't feel to bad. I never found a shiny in emerald and I found a shiny while serching for pokeradar pokemon. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I was allways frustrated when everybody on the site had a shiny exept me. If you keep at it, you'll eventually find one. Try the pokeradar trick, too.

when i played emerald i found 2 shinies and didn't know that they were shinies and when i went back with some pokeballs i just looked in the same patch i was in and in the end i found a shiny numel whitch is now a camerupt (black cool) and a shiny poochyena whitch is a mightyena now (gold extra cool).

you just have to look for a while and you should find one eventually.

Play pokemon crystal. You'll find shiny and the egg that Day-caare couple gives to you is always contains shiny pokemon.

I had over 600 hours clocked on my Sapphire version (then the game got corrupt and I lost my Lv100 Sceptile ) and didn't see even one shiny. lolunlucky12yearoldslackinglives

Cuddles is a beast, he probably has well over 100 shinies as of now due to his cloning. I have like 10, 5 I got on my own, and 5 in trade. And no I dont count shiny gyarados anymore. Idk, I just know when I got my shiny Scyther I thought it looked bad ass.

i have never caught a shiny of of 100 hrs. of firered, 45 hrs. of sapphire 265 hrs. of emerald, 143 hrs. on ruby, 5 hrs. on crystal, 58 hrs. on silver and 340 hrs. on leafgreen. i kept killing the shiny gyardos, i just gave up on catching it. aside from that gyardos, i havent even seen another shiny
thats about 955 hrs,

I'm at about 300-350 hours on three games and the only shiny ive seen is the green espeon in trainer tower in FRLG

i have a shiny altaria, tentacreul, dusclops, blaziken, shiftry.
so i don't want to say that shiny finding is hard.
and playtime is just 180 hours
