I would have a recharge-move gym. The challenger could only use pokemon that had recharge moves. It would be six on six, and each pokemon would only know one recharge move. The puzzle to the gym would be like Norman's gym. At the start, you could choose between going through the Hyper Beam door or the Giga Impact door. Then you could choose the elemental hyper beam doors. Then you would reach me. My team would be:

Another gym I might have is an Explosion Gym! The gym would be a straight path to me. On the way, 5 trainers would fight with weak electrodes, each using explosion on the first turn to weaken you. as much as i desire to break the trend of the topic and say that i wouldn't accept the request as a gym leader, i've had an idea in my head for some time and cannot resist the tempation of the status quo


ever since the days of red and blue the idea of the the "gentleman" trainer arcetype has facinated me, so i think it would be awsome to make a gym based around it. It also allows a great amount of flexability as the gentleman doesn't have any particular type, just pokemon that fit the "pet" idea

anyways, the gym itself would be differnt from most of the traditional gym designs as rather than being a modern and "techy" building located in one of the many towns and citys, it's a open plan mansion located just outside, much like the pokemon mansion in sinnoh.
The gym leaders room itself would be located right in the center, but starts out locked, and you have to find the key which is randomly generated in a suitable place (bin, wardrobe, e.t.c.) around the rest of the house.

I myself would have to following pokemon, not by any tactics, but they're just the gentleman pokemon:
Growlithe
Electrike
Meowth

and i have only 3 pokemon, all un-evolved, because i shall be the FIRST gym leader. It really shows the egomania of people on this forum that they're all saying that they're 8th gym leaders with level 80s.

An intresting proposition... I would agree to it, but I would have to think long and hard about what my gym would be like...

It would be a gym of patience and caring. The challengers would have to solve puzzels that take time to accomplish, such as growing a vine to get to a higher level of the gym, or bringing a certain item or Pokemon to the gym to appease the trainers.

Anywho, the layout would be as such. The ship would be floating off the coast of the last Sinnoh city. ((I forgot it's name, how embarassing.)) The first challenge of conquering the gym would be finding it. It would be in a cove you'd have to use Dive to get to. Once you've found and entered the gym, you'd be encased in near total darkness. You'd have an 8 x 8 circle of light around you.

Some levels would be completely flooded, some only partially, some not at all. There would be 5 levels, and the water level in the room would dictate the kind of Pokemon the trainers you encounter would battle you with. There would also be random events placed throughout the ship similar to the floating girl in Sinnoh. There would also be false levels and rooms to the ship, which when exited, reset the previous room entirely. You may even find yourself standing in an entirely different room.

The trainers would be focused on inflicting sleep on as many of your Pokemon as they could, then using moves like Dream Eater to deal damage. They would also Freeze you, and then slowly eat away at your health.

my Theme would be "Mixtures" type, meaning all pokemon have dual types, and no types ovelap in the team

GYM layout would be:

17 trainers will be guarding 17 'doors' in 17 rooms (each room, corresponding to an element type),
each trainer will check if you have a specific Type of pokemon (dual types can be valid too), if you dont have the specific type the trainer is asking for, then you'll have to battle him/her to get through, each trainer will have 2 pokemon of the type he/she is asking for. In this case, unless you stick to ONE type only for your entire team, then you wont have to battle all 17. if you passed the 17th door, then you're get to fight, Me

the order will be:
Normal - Grass - Fire - Water - Poison - Ground - Rock - Bug - Dark - Psychic - Fighting - Ghost - Steel - Dragon - Electric - Flying - Ice - Normal


for the Second, the same procedure, but now instead of 2 pokemon per trainer, it will be 3. and for the Gym leader, the team will be mixed up again, (how's that for inconsistency?)

EDIT: I rather like the dude-below-me's post with the 'what they'd say,' aspect.

Upon entering and challenging; "Welcome to my Gym. Many dismiss Insect Pokemon as weak and reserved only for amateurs. However, once you break through the thick cocoon of consensus, you unveil the great beauty of Insect Pokemon! Come, let us do battle!"

And upon victory: "That was excellent, you overcame the diversity my Pokemon threw your way with both intellect and power. Take this and remember your battle when you use it." *gives TM81 or whatever number X Scissor is.*

I'd specialize in ghost and normal type pokemon, as I in fact do use quite a few of them. And my gym would have a white floored area, and when you step into some transported, you go into a black floored area. And in these areas are moveable blocks that you must move out of your way to get to the end, but the black and white area overlap. So for example, to move a black block in the white area, you need to go to the black area to move it. And once that is done, you get to me, the gym leader.

My opening phrase would probably be like... "You've solved two different planes of puzzles to get to me, but can you solve your own inner-turmoil? We all have some sort of conflict in us, you must learn to use both opposing sides to your advantage. Come at me, and we can put your soul to the test!"
