This happened to me ages ago when I tried releasing a Pokemon I had just received in a trade or had 2 of, I'm not sure. But anyway, it said "Was it worried about you?" too. I was like "What the f**k?... Aww" and I think I ended up just putting it aside in a spare box. Either that or after a few tries I was able to release it.
I marked all my female Pokemon with hearts when I was feel random one day, so that I could keep count of males and females for some reason.

ha ha ha a triple post!!! but yeah thats happened to me be fore to i released a random zigzagoon because i was never going to use it but it knew all hms i went out side and i ran into a SEADRA!!! on land and of course i caught it and it knew all the same moves as my zigzagoon and let me remind you it knew all HM s weird huh

Hello, I'm new here and my stupid woudn't go!
I had to trade it to my brother and have him release IT!
My is the same way but that I want to keep it.

I've never seen that happen... Only because I dont' release too many of my pokemon. I just usually trade "excess" to my brother or friends.

If you are on an island and you try to release your only pokemon with the skill Surf it will come back, being worried that you won't be able to make it back to land. That is one instance I know where the pokemon will return. Or, I think if it's your starter in the first bit of the game. I've never done that but I know FOR SURE that the first instance is true.
