The Revolution looks like a PS2 that has been cut up a bit, but I'm sure it will rock. The PS3 looks like a Platuinum PS2, with curves. Though the controller... sux the originally was my favorite out of them all. The XBox doesn't look that bad, though I heard it won't have that great hardware compared to the PS3, it will focus more on making a cheap computer (aka very gay).

If Nintendo has Mario Cart for online play no one will catch them. No one.

Yeah, read about that on OCR's thread on the Revolution launch.
My first reaction: GOD YES.

They announced it during the Nintendo conference.
To anyone that actually watched the whole conference, what did you think about it? Me, I'm really excited about everything. The Gameboy mini seems kinda useless IMO though. Nintendogs is really interesting and I like the fact that it responds to what you say. They also showed how DS will be online.

UH OH I'm flooded in my own drool.
If I do get the Nintendo Revolution, I can finally recover my SSB skills which are now sitting in a box waiting to be opened again.

Ugh, decisions decisions! There's gonna be pros and cons for each system, and with my limited budget I'll most likely only be able to afford one, but which one to get?! *pulls hair out*
The Revolution with SSB Online, the XBox 360 which I'm guessing is going to have an enormous hard drive, and the PS3 which will probably have the overall best selection of games.... I guess I'll just wait and see until they come out and then decide which one to get.

With SSBM being an online game, that means it may be possible to download new characters.

PS3:
+Immensely powerful
+Great games
-Expensive
-Controller is crap
-Oddly shaped, ugly, looks like a George Foreman Grill
X360:
+Good online service
-It's Microsoft
-Also ugly
-Game selection is crap
Revolution:
+Backwards compatibility
+Cheap
+Download previous games
+WiFi straight out of the box
-Specs are still unknown
-Controller is a mystery
-Most likely will lose in sales because of the 'Nintendo = kids' image

Like Wuzzle, my greatest fear is that the Revolution will be unable to escape the "Kiddie" image. Now, this doesn't matter to me, because I don't buy games based on image; I go for gameplay and innovation. However, since all most people care about is graphics and guns, this could be a problem for long-term production.
Nintendo needs to come to a realization with this system. Making the classic Mario from '85 downloadable isn't enough. They need to understand that the little kids who played the game back then aren't little kids anymore. They have to accept the fact that their fleeting fanbase is fleeting because they haven't grown up with them.
Now, Nintendo can obviously still make the classic games that are more kid oriented, but they can't focus on it nearly as much as they have been. The new Zelda for GCN is a definite step in the right direction. Yes, Wind Waker was an AMAZING game and the cell shading was cool, but it made the game look really childish. Nintendo's big fanbase is now in it's 20's and 30's, and they need to take advantage of that. GoldenEye and Perfect Dark brought two Game of the Year FPS games to the N64. No one makes a shooter like Rare. Unfortunately, Nintendo sold them to Microsoft, and the new Perfect Dark is launching with Xbox 360. Nintendo can't afford to keep doing this.
Now, as I sit here, I've got an open book in my lap; "The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe" to be precise, open to page 72, entitled "The Raven." Allow me to quote:
Edgar Allan Poe wrote: Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before, Does anyone recognize that quote, outside of Poe's works? Mr. Saturn here should, because I know he played the game the same time as me. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, a sleeper hit for GCN, was an amazing game. Never before has any video game, movie, TV show, or any visual media filled me with such sheer terror. That game brought survival horror to a whole new level; your character (you played over a dozen of them) would go insane as it fought against zombies and other undead creatures. The game would use this to mess with your own head. An attempt to save would bring up the "Formatting Memory Card...." box. Your TV would appear to turn off. There'd be a man, hanged, in the corner of the room, spouting Shakespeare. For no reason at all, the screen would swarm with flies or spiders. Now, while playing this game, things would spook me, but nothing more. At least, that's how it seemed. When I stopped though, every time, I realized I was shaking, sweating, and my heart was racing. I was genuinely terrified.
These are the sorts of things Nintendo needs to work on. Games like Eternal Darkness would be a more than welcome addition to my library. I enjoy being scared, and it's been a long time since it's happened. But the level of emotion carried in that game was unreal. The game itself was a revolution; for the first time in years, I felt like I was really in the game, not playing it. With games like that, who needs virtual reality or the greatest graphics ever seen? A game that can so deeply immerse you into it is infinitely better than a game with the greatest graphics that you can only "play."
I don't want to "play" video games; I want to experience them. That's one of the things that draws myself and other's to FPS games; the FP part of it. It adds a level of realism to the game. Perhaps I'm getting repetitive here, but when I play a game, and I start to lose track of what's reality and what's just a game, that's a good thing to me. Now, that doesn't mean I go and lose all sense of reality, mind you. I can leave my AK-47's in the video game realm, tyvm.
Ranting on that real quick; perhaps that's part of the problem. We've got these games with amazing detail and violence, but they don't give you that reality feeling. Yet, they pass them off as "the most realistic yet" every time. We're telling kids who are too young to be playing these games in the first place that the game is amazingly real, yet the game doesn't blur reality itself. We blur the reality of the kids by telling them the game's real. That's not how it should be. If a game is realistic, you should be playing with no perceptions of time and the outside world. That's realistic. Flashy graphics aren't realistic if you can still hear your mom telling you to stop playing the game because you've used up your 30-minutes for the day. You should be able to honestly say you had no idea 4 hours had gone by, and you never once heard her say anything. That's what gaming is supposed to be.
So, in conclusion, here's to hoping Nintendo realizes that they can hold on to their roots, but still move on and accept that their fans have grown up. Also, all GCN owners who are of a mature age (not necessarily the M 18+ rating) should go pick up Eternal Darkness. You'll find it in the bargain bin, no more than $20.
Merely this and nothing more.

You DO realize that all 3 next-gen systems are strictly wireless controllers, right?

The revolution looks slick but I don't like the thin black look, too similar to PS2 and Xbox. But that won't change a thing, I'm still buying the Rev.
