When I was younger, I loved them. As soon as American Idiot came out, I immediately became repulsed by all their works. Don't ask me why, but now I don't like them.

Weeeell... Green Day received relatively decent commercial success when they released their album Dookie "back in the day," so American Idiot isn't their first saunter into the limelight. So then I ask: what's your favourite?
I like Basket Case a lot; it's perhaps my most memorable to me from Dookie. I also love Good Riddance from nimrod., and When I Come Around and Longview are also good from Dookie. Brain Stew is most memorable to me from their album Insomniac. I'm not too familiar with much since those albums.

I used to love Green Day, but now they're just boring, especially the whole American Idiot album. I do however like the Jesus of Suburbia song.
As for a favorite song, I'm not sure if I can name one. Probably Minority or When I Come Around.

IMO, they're just too simplistic and lame.
Everyone goes through a stage when they're 12 where they think Green Day is the best band in the world, then they hear real music and they never turn back.

Personally, I like ALL of the stuff I've heard from Green Day, even the stuff off American Idiot. (They could lose the makeup though). My favorites are probably Basket Case, Minority, Holiday and Whatsername. (The last one's off of AI, but wasn't released as a single.)

billy joe armstrong is a decent singer though.

personally I prefer post idiot.
However their older stuff has good stuff too
American idiot is NOT the best ever, imho.
And Green Day isn't simplistic. or at least, I don't like any of their simplistic songs.

I like Longview a lot for some reason, especially when I'm mad, it sorta calms me down with its good beat and at the same time pumps me with its lyrics.
Dookie was a pretty good album, I like most of it as well, and I find American Idiot, Holiday, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams to be good too.
It's too bad that Green Day isn't doing so well on the charts these days.

Welll if you ask me, all Green Day is good. But I have to say, When I Come Around and Pulling Teeth are all time favourites. Oh, and their cover of Operation Ivy's Knowledge is pretty good
