Yeah, yeah, we ALL KNOW it's JUST a japanese cartoon made mostly to promote the games and the franchise (omg, who would've known!), and know damn well that only someone who honestly has nothing better to do would look for potential psychological aspects in this kind of show (which honestly has none to offer, besides one or two messages about japanese culture and etc). Please avoid replying with the obvious, because we're aware of it.
With that explained, check out this link: http://community.livejournal.com/pokemo ... d=23307727
Yeah, it's tl;dr, but it's quite entertaining and inspiring (if it was a waste of time for you, then I'm sorry).
After I read all of it (my eyes were hurting already), I baww'd a little, and it made me think for a while, until I snapped out of it and recovered common sense.
Seriously, though, whoever wrote this was REALLY patient and creative (and had a lot of free time too). While many things are off, there's a lot that could make perfect sense if it wasn't for the fact that it isn't true. Honestly, who would've thought of all that? Because I doubt anyone in their right mind would interprete the anime that way.
I have to say I enjoyed that a lot, and if someone has any other weird psychological theory on Pokemon (or any other cartoon that obviously has nothing to do with that, not like FLCL, for instance), please contribute.
Oh, yeah, discuss and tell us what you think. Have you ever came up with anything weird like that? I honestly haven't, haha, even though I do enjoy this kind of stuff.
in b4 "lol people discussing serious issues in a dumb cartoon/videogame" ;_;

OH MY GOD... How could he come up with such a very detailed explanation of the whole anime?
And his conclusion to the story almost made me cry...
He's got a very good concept going on... But its one thing we all couldn't prove...

tl/dr: I approve of that Yoko avatar.
And the anime is totally a spoof of Serial Experiments Lain.

I couldn't help but laugh through the first half, but the more I read, the more it actually made a better story out of the series (even if some parts were a bit...odd).

Pokemon don't feel so innocent, now does it?

You said it Poe. I think it's just a creative little story, a very good one but still a story nonetheless. Pokemon is a kids show and wouldn't have such a dark twist (even by Japan's standards). Still all in all a very very well written theory, which is all that it is.

I'm long past my days of watching the anime, but I will watch it very rarely if I catch it on TV. Just for some nostalgia and to see how different it has become since Season 1. I'm going to think of this everytime I watch now. This is just weird...I love it and hate it simultaneously.
