Once the guys at Gamefreak and Nintendo get tired of coming up with new Pokemon Generations, they should make the final pokemon game:
Pokemon Master Challenge
It would be a home console game spanning all the RPG regions up to that point, starting with Kanto and going in order. Once you beat the Champion for each continent, all your Pokemon would be placed in boxes so you are forced to start fresh in boxes 17 to 32 (and so on). once you beat the final Champion, all the continents would become accessible, and so would all your Pokemon. As an added postgame bonus, you could reenter the Disortion world and battle a mirror image of yourself, with the exact same Pokemon.

For the sake of argument.. why do you think nintendo would plan out the game as the final game? If they are riding high, then they wouldn't have a reason to end the series. If things were bad and they were ending it, then they wouldn't waste money on a final installment of a then unpopular series. I haven't known a company to ever do things that way. Anyway, I doubt they would construct a game like that.

Yes, but if they DID make the game, it would probably be their best. I've always wanted to travel all the maps in one game.

Pokemon doesn't exactly have a good track record when it comes to console games. I'd love more than any other person to see a good pokemon game on the wii. There's so many possibilities if you think of ways to utilize the wiimote with berries, throwing pokeballs, fishing with rods, and a few other things. If done right, it could even recapture the magic of the original series. But saying that, I don't think it will happen...

Back when Red and Blue were first released, no one would have thought that it would be possible to trade Pokemon with people on the other side of the world. Who knows what might be possible in the future.

Very true. Maybe if someone dropped a few hints to Nintendo, something magic might happen.

Not saying you're wrong, but I hardly think a huge corporation like Nintendo would listen to a couple of fans who want a Pokemon game made when they have so many other projects to deal with and such a strong market with their current games anyway. I don't think we here at Psypokes are the first to come up with this exact idea, and I doubt we'll be the first they've heard of it at Nintendo of America or whatever. That being said, if they've heard for some time now that fans want a huge, mashup, console-based game then it probably would've been made by now. I agree with Phantasms when he said there can't be a real "end" to these games as the point when that happens would signal the fact that there is just no more interest in the seires and it would be a tremendous gamble to make such an effort-packed game in a dying sector of the video game market. And who knows? Maybe in a few years people won't want the standard RPG game we've come to know and love and rather demand more Pokemon Ranger or Mystery Dungeon. In this instance it would be foolish to make the all-inclusive game. Another thing is that Nintendo will simply run out of ideas for Pokemon at some point. They seem to be getting less and less creative as is; I want to see what Generation V holds because this really could be it if all the Pokemon just suck. If that happens, how many fans are really going to be interested enough to buy this end game? I think the general reaction would be something like, "I remember when Pokemon was fun. I'd buy this game if it didn't include all the sucky stuff. Eh, I'm not gonna waste my money today. Bioshock 3 is coming out next week anyway." Simply put, when Pokemon has reached the end of its rope there won't be enough fans who are "nostalgic" enough to buy a game such as this. Yes, a game like this would be very nice and I for one would probably buy it (granting we aren't all dead by the time Pokemon does hit such a road-block), but as of now, I don't feel Miamoto-san could pull this one off. Now if they were to announce suddenly, "We're done with Pokemon. Here's one final game for you guys. Enjoy," then I believe it would fly right off the shelves. But again, Nintendo has so much success with Pokemon right now that it would probably be a huge loss for them to stop creating these games. P.S. I'm not trying to put down anyone's ides or anything; I'm simply a realist. Feel free to comment on your own now, kids.

I think that it would be a great idea if they made this game anyway! i would love to play through all the regions one after the other, though i think that it should be optional if you want to start again with new pokemon, and depending on what you choose the gyms either start from basic or get stronger from where the last champion left of, maybe increasing max level to 200 or something?

Look, I'm not a fan of Generation III either, but let's be realistic here. It beat Generation II in sales, and that's not even counting FireRed and LeafGreen. It wasn't perceived by casual fans as some monstrocity that sent the franchise's popularity and profitability into a tailspin. In fact, Generation II was the nadir of the franchise's popularity following the end of its huge fad status, NOT Generation III.

Not that you could gamble, but I'd take those odds against you. I don't know about you, but I suspected them of pulling pokemon out of their behinds when I heard of leafeon.

No more pokemon would be like... No more Mario/Zelda.
Unless someone drops a nuke on the pokemon production team, you will see pikachu and company for a very long time.

Here's an idea for the final Pokemon game: never existing.
Pokemon is the #2 most purchased video game franchise; one that will eventually hit the #1 spot and beat even Mario. I don't remember the actual statistics, but I believe it's like Mario selling 200 million games and Pokemon having sold 180 million and being around ten years less. Yes, that means it even beats The Legend of Zelda.
I don't know where all this "pokemon should end" stuff is coming from, but I'm glad it'll never end. I'll enjoy the games forever, even when there are 1000+ Pokemon. Unlike Sonic, Mario and Final Fantasy, I have always enjoyed the Pokemon franchise, even at its low points. I don't care about Mystery Dungeon or Ranger or related garbage, but the main series has always been great (yes, even generation 3 was at the very least mediocre.)

Encore! Encore! Give a standing ovation for this person and hope that they don't screw up anymore like they did with bidoof!

Very optimistic! But there are a few things that you messed up on. First of all, it wouldn't be all of Nintendo listening to the requests, it would just be the Pokemon team. Second of all, they might decide to end the series before it gets "sucky", some companies do that. And last of all (great transitions right?) I think a lot of people would buy the game, because, lets just say Gen V is the "sucky" one, people would buy the game mainly for the other ones, and Gen V would only be 1/5 of the entire game, not very much.
I think this idea is very good and plausible, even if you don't.

lets just hope that the traditional pokemon games dont end. the classic handheld RPGs. although i suppose i console pokemon RPG would be really nice, if they actually made one that was decent.

I believe that pokemon woill stay strong for another decade or two. I'm sure their are going to be plenty of new handheld nintendo systems and games. It's going to be a long time before nintendo will even have thoughts about it. Nintendo is making a freaking fortune off these games, so the final game won't come for awhile.

But I love Mystery Dungeon. Any game that makes me cry(PMD 1, when the player's team gets exiled because of the Ninetales thing)is awesome in my book. The sad music got to me...
Anyway. Where is this "generation 3 was the worst" coming from? I've never heard one complaint about it before. Now generation 4 on the other hand...I'd be rich if I had a dollar for every time I heard somebody say it sucked.

Generation III did not suck, i actually think i was really good with the battle frontier, and the kanto remakes. And also i think the idea of having a merged pokemon game is really good but as mentioned above somewhere, the pokemon franchise is still going really strong and it is sooo popular. Nintendo would loose so much from stopping these games. Too many people still want the series to go on so i highly doubt nintendo will be finishing antime soon.

The last pokemon game should be the mega game with every single region in it.

Very true. Everyone i know has played gen I, and alot of younger fans started with gen III but gen II despite being one of the best pokemon games and setting trends like phones, night and day, trade evo's, happiness, breeding, and a battle tower never got the same love and popularity as the others- despite that the next 3 gens have built off it's idea's and not the orginal per say.
Gen I created pokemon, i would say that Gen II created the standards and ideas that all other poke games followed.

I really think a sequel to Pokemon Snap should be made for the Wii. The game was especially revolutionary because of the interaction with Pokemon in their habitat as opposed to the gameboy games where you can't see the actual pokemon until you enter a battle (with the exception to legendaries and the like, but still, all they do is sit there and wait for you to interact with them). I think it would also be awesome for a console RPG that takes the style of Pokemon Snap except you're catching Pokemon and not taking pictures of them.
