After some searching, using the search option at the top of the page, I couldn't find a topic like this so I decided to make one.
As the title says this thread is for you and others to share how you found Psypoke and your motivations for finding it, whether they be noble or just superficial. I knew about Psypoke for a few years before I actually joined because a good friend of mine from another long dead forum R_R usually mentioned it from time to time. Anyway after that particular forum closed down I decided to move onto here, and it was quite a change. I went from a forum that really only had a few active members, only a small handful at most, that knew each others actual names to a much larger community. I came here because I like to interact with other Pokemon fans and such.
Anyway feel free to post and share your reasons for coming here and how you found this place.

Mhhhm Dateline July something. I was doing my "Cheapass" run of my pokemon crystal ROM. ((Cheapass run= when I've legitly beaten the game fully and wanna have some cheating fun)) I looked up some cheats and as usual I came to this sight. I figured, that since I was no longer active on hell ((Like for a year)) I decided it was time I joined another pkmn forum. So I did, plus I also found out about the forum cuz my friend told me about how he was gonna join. He *Allegedly* stopped liking pokemon the week I joined so, I joined and enjoyed the experience since.

How did I find Psypoke? Well, I knew about this since the March before I joined. (Two months before) I was Googling "Online Pokedex", and this and some other site (I think Pokecharms?) showed up. As I already knew about the Pokecharms one (I've been a member since a year ago or so) so I tried the Psypoke "Psydex". It was a rewarding experience, and I never went back to Pokecharms after this. I've stayed, and I learned so much out of this. Thank you Psypoke! ~torchie13125

Five and a half years ago I googled "Pokemon IRC channel" and found #Psypoke. I wasn't looking for any information; I just wanted to find a cool IRC channel because I'm a chatty bitch. About a month later I registered on the forums solely to request a Psypoke trainercard because I thought they were cool, and I wanted to partake in Amphy's "banana" competition. I very rarely posted those first few months here, but I always stuck around because I liked Amphy, TheCyberMew, and Nido, they were so fun to talk to in #Psypoke.
Since I joined in 2005 I've been a Gym Leader, Frontier Brain, and eventually a Lite Four. I've probably posted well over 4000 times (it doesn't show because tons of threads have been pruned) and have been an active poster in Saffron City, General Pokemon Discussion, Hoenn Generation, and Isshu Generation.
I've also had the honor of meeting a bunch of staff members in real life, including Frost and TheCyberMew!
We've actually had multiple threads on this subject, but it's fine, I think the old topics are buried pretty deep in Saffron City.

I cant really remember how I actually found psypokes, but when I found it I found it vey helpfull. I had no idea about ev's and iv's and all that until psypokes. I didn't sign up for the forums right away though, cause well, im not very talkitive and for a 19 year old, have a very weird mind (yesterday i was wondering if we could gentically alter fish to make em taste like pepsi). But it hit me that I probably wouldn't have the chance in real life to talk about pokemon with other people my age, so I decided to join. Im more or less into the pokemon talk, but I do talk abit about other stuff. I glad I joined, and hope to add something intelegant to the site ( wait for it...).

I needed to get some info on a certain Pokemon RPG game which I can't remember anymore & I then googled for some sites that had info on the Pokemon games(not that exact phase) & this site was pretty much the first link that actually had a engrossing of info on the games I needed info for so once I got to the site, I got what I came for & always came back from that point on which was during the year 2008 I think...
How I found the Psypoke forum, well I occasionally would click on it sometimes when visiting the main site & then near the end of 2009 I made a decision that I would join the forum come New Years Day 2010 as I was now a little used to forums having been on another non Pokemon related one at the time, however I was a bit late getting signed up & ended up joining on the 2nd most likely due to what was going on around the house on New Years which was something I was pretty much forced to participate in...
My point is that while I wish I had joined earlier, I joined the forum that day instead & since then have enjoyed every visit to the Psypoke community, for better or for worse anyway...

I found this site around 2007, but I didn't join until early 2010. My sister showed me the site because I was having troubles beating Emerald. Pokemon was one of the things we had in common. Now she has no time to play between university, work, and life. Psypoke really is a great place. Not only does it provide in-depth information upon everything in Pokemon, including pre-release info, walthroughs, breeding, and everything in between. Psypoke is also great because of it brings together a community of wonderful people. Hearing the views and opinions of other intelligent human beings is great. I also learn alot. Like that Arbok backwards is Kobra. I do not know what I would do if I didn't find psypoke.

Somewhere between five and six years ago (...man it doesn't feel like it's been nearly that long) I used Google in a desperate attempt for help on one of my Pokemon games, probably Emerald. I decided to stick around and use the site for whenever I had a Pokemon-related crisis, then eventually joined the forums in August of 2005. Well, technically September, as I more or less signed up and then went on vacation. >_> Anyway, I've improved a lot since first joining (such as not posting 50 times a day), and now I have a nice blue name to support that claim! As the first online community I joined, this place always kinda has some special value to me.

Like most of these people, I found psypoke on google, but actually a LONG time ago, like 2007, but I was completely oblivious to the fact that there were forums, Lol. But I remembered this site when I got Soulsilver to help myself out, and I started using the forums, around July.

I found psypoke through a google search about a year ago for a pokemon pokedex. I have been using this site for guides later, and I decided to join when I wanted to vote in this year's gpct. Soon enough, I started posting in the forums, and here I am now.

Using google, I thought it'd be a cool idea to get my team rated because I thought (even though in game teams don't really matter much) that it'd be a cool idea. I registered at a couple of forums, but I started reading though Psypoke threads and I started liking the community (actually, I thought some smartass comments from some of the mods were pretty funny, too), and though I was shy, I posted a little bit and gradually more and more as time passed. Since I pretty much hated everyone at that point (I joined in 2006, pretty much just as I left school and was really depressed), I decided socialising elsewhere away from the real world, thinking it would be a good idea away from all the **** going on.
And in a way, it was. I started talking, writing and roleplaying, joined one of the teams, visited the IRC channel, and in a way opened myself up... My grammar and spelling improved a hell of a lot more thanks to it, and I enjoyed making friends who liked the same things I did, and yeah, I really liked it here and I felt like I had a place I belonged. So like Rhapsody and a lot of other people who joined, this place has a lot of value to me as well, and some people I've met here mean a lot to me even though they may not realise it.

I looked up: 'pokemon websites with good pokedexes' and this was the top suggestion. Like shinashu taji, I browsed this site for a while before I joined. Now you know if I say "yeah, I was on this site when the teams were up." that I'm not lying. I just hadn't decided to join yet.

Way back when (at least 4-5 years ago) I had a friend. a friend who always had fun with me, even though he was a year older. He wanted to show me a site for the Pokemon games we were playing, and I thought it was cool. Back then I only looked at the main site, then I left it for a while. When I got back in to Pokemon full-time, I visited the site again, and I eventually joined the forums, just so I could comment on events, and generally mess around on the forums. I feel that maybe Psypoke is a bit slow to the punch, but as my first Pokemon site saved to my bookmarks (favorites then, I used to use IE), I hope that I never have to leave Psypoke.

I'm sure I've posted this story like three times already, but who gives a hoot if I tell it a fourth. Back in early 2005, my best friend and I had gotten back into the Pokemon TCG. I was crazy for the Regi Pokemon at the time (namely because it took me forever to figure out how to obtain them), and of course I wanted to get the Registeel ex card from the Hidden Legends set. Suffice to say I did not get him in my first few booster packs (I did get the almost-as-awesome Regice ex though!), so I went online and googled "Registeel ex" so I could ogle the card online. It linked me to Psypoke's card dex, where I promptly stared at the Registeel card and wished it was mine. After a few minutes of basking in Registeel's metal glory, I saw the "forums" link. At the time, I had never been to a web forum. Since Pokemon was a rare hobby in my area, I got excited at the idea of a community of Pokemon players. I guess you could say it was love at first sight; I instantly was enthralled with the forums. Some staff members and regular users can remember my fascination and dream with being a Psypoke moderator, which I eventually got to realize when Krisp asked me if I would like to join the staff. Needless to say I accepted in a heartbeat. Not only has this allowed me to help out the community I love, it's allowed me to make some close friends I probably would not have made as quickly (or at all, possibly!). Sadly when I moved out last year, I didn't have a computer that allowed me to post regularly. Krisp was kind enough to send me an extra laptop, but that died in a couple months and I spent pretty much all of my year at my apartment without participating in Psypoke. Sure I'd occasionally type a short reply via the Wii browser, but that's such a pain in the butt and very inconvenient. Thankfully, I am moving back to my parents very soon. I might only be here for a few months, or I might be here for half a year, who knows. I'm just glad I can be active again, especially in #psypoke. Rhapsody wrote: As the first online community I joined, this place always kinda has some special value to me. Exactly, I've never been able to find an online community that ensnares my interest quite like Psypoke. I don't think Psypoke could ever be replaced in my heart.

I just got back into pokemon and was making a Post-E4 team. I needed info on Farfetch'd Stick item, finding nothing specific on any site I asked the fourms here.

I found Psypoke sometime while I was in the seventh grade. I forgot what I searched for on google, I think it was something like "Pokemon TM/HMs List" or "Pokemon Level-Up Moves", something like that. Anyway, I stumbled upon this site and after visiting it for a few times as a reference, I joined the forums. I was a complete n00btard when I joined, made a bunch of n00b mistakes, but I caught on eventually. I was active for about a year or so, then when I finally was going into high school I said my good-byes to the community, posting once in a blue moon (like one or two posts in a year, yeah that often). At the end of my senior year of high school my friend was telling me about HeartGold and SoulSilver and how awesome they were, so I picked up a copy of HeartGold for nostalgia's sake and got obsessed with it for a about a month, then getting Diamond and Ruby, I eventually started using this site as a reference again (no googling, I just knew this was a good site), and eventually started posting on the forums again.

Waaaay back in May or so of 2009 I was playing FR while my wife was recovering from a knee replacement. Was looking for walkthroughs and evolution information. Googled and found a couple of different sites with less than adequate information, then finally try Psypoke. I'd been utilizing information from here for a while then finally decided to join the forums so I could be about the oldest person on here.

I can't actually remember how I found i, probably through the Psydex for level up moves or something, I know I was a lurker for a while before joined the forum and went on the IRC and lol'd the first time I saw the kick wars in action. Sad thing is I go away for a few years and most the familiar names have either gone or changed (username), confusing. I know people move on and all that.

I think I found it back in like 2004, when I was first getting into generation 3 after not having played much pokemon since the earlier days of generation 2. After I beat sapphire, I noticed there were a lot of pokemon that I hadn't seen, so I wanted to see what awaited me in the game. Unlike generations 1 and 2, I didn't pay any attention to forms of media other than the games, so every pokemon I saw was essentially brand new to me. I got around to googling 'pokedex,' and I found this one to be the most helpful. I even registered for the forums eventually, and I think I've posted more than 3 times per month on average!

Back in the day, I wanted to make my first competitive Pokemon team for Platinum, so Googled for a good Pokedex. I eventually stubled on the forum (my first one, by the way) and joined it. I had been spriting beforehand, so the old Sunnyshore Market enthralled me. Then I started a shop, got more awesome at spriting, and was kindly elevated to Jr Mod status by Krisp during the merger Sunnyshore is dead now though
